New docks for Naples and Marco Island waterfront homes

A dock is part of the house. We lay it out around your boat, your shoreline, and how you use the water.

JJ Spivey has more than 10 years building docks and lifts in Southwest Florida. He walks the site with you, and the written estimate spells out the layout, the materials, and what the permits involve.

What we plan with you

The decisions that shape how the dock looks and how it works.

  • LayoutWhere the dock, lift, and boarding points go, based on your boat, the seawall, and the canal or bay.
  • DeckingWood or composite. We go over the look, feel, and upkeep of each in person.
  • Lift and slipA boat lift sized to your boat, built into the plan from the start.
  • LightingDock and piling lights, wired by a licensed electrical contractor.
  • OutfittingCleats, ladders, bumpers, and a fresh-water flush setup at the lift.
  • Floating sectionsFor PWCs, kayaks, and paddleboards, a floating dock that moves with the tide.

Rebuilding the house, or just bought it?

The dock is usually part of the plan.

  • Working with your builder or architectWe plan the dock alongside the house, so the seawall, lift, lighting, and permits line up with the build.
  • An older seawallMuch of Naples' seawall was built between 1950 and 1980. We look at the wall before we plan a new dock on it.

Permits

New docks usually need permits.

Depending on the address, that can mean the city or the county, and sometimes state and federal agencies. We tell you which ones apply at the estimate and walk you through what each one needs from you.

Questions about new docks

Can you add a lift to my existing dock?

Often, yes. It depends on the dock, the pilings, and the room in the slip. We check all three on the site visit.

How long does a new dock take?

It depends on the permits, the design, and the weather. You get a realistic schedule with the written estimate, and we keep you posted as the job moves.

Will you work with my builder or architect?

Yes. If the dock is part of a larger renovation or a new home, we can coordinate with your builder or architect.

Can you take out my old dock?

Yes. Removing the old dock can be part of the job, and it is spelled out in the estimate.
